Body Of Water

That’s so interesting. This makes me want to know more about your work. I hope that it can lead for more stories like this tp get made. Keep going.

Just voted for this but my question was ‘Who is Nadine trying to protect?’ and gave me both Joé and Elsa as answers. I kinda think both are tru, but Joé is more true? Do you know what the ‘correct’ answer is?

Thank you very very much!!

Hi, thanks so much for your vote!

In my opinion, Nadi is protecting herself and her memory. She wants to cure her grief, no matter what. But if the options are between Joé or Elsa, I’d say Joé, since he’s the image she chose to replace her dead son.

Unfortunately, Elsa is the sacrifice Nadi selfishly makes in order to heal!

Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions. I had some myself about Body of water but you’ve answered them already. Do you write features and will you be entering the next feature competition?

Hi, thanks for commenting here, too!

Yes, I’ve written some features scripts, including the one that has “Body of Water” as a proof of concept. It’s called “The Pains of Labor” and it’s a folk horror/drama set in an isolated Brazilian village in the 1890s. It has many of the same settings and themes as “Body of Water”, as well as visuals and tone.

It’s still in development, but I’ve had many awesome experiences with it, like being a part of the TorinoFilmLab’s NEXT workshop and the Ventana Sur film market (in December 2025).

However, I haven’t had the chance to take a look at this specific feature competition, so I’m not entirely sure if I qualify. I’ll check it out and keep it on my radar!

Hey everyone, hope you’re doing well!

It’s been a while since we last interacted, but in the meantime, we’ve been working to make Body of Water happen.

As you know, we were finalists, so thank you all for your support! Now, I’ve gathered a nice, experienced crew and started a crowdfunding campaign. We’re planning to start shooting August 31st.

So we have two support pages: one in BRL (since we’re from Brazil) and one in USD, for our international friends. Check them out:

It’d be great if we could get any kind of help, whether it’s supporting directly or just sharing with whomever might be interested! Alternatively, it’d also be amazing if anyone could share tips on where we could promote our support page to attract more backers.

Anyway, thanks again for everything! :black_heart:
