Thanks for the response and reading it!
This is such an inspiring origin!!! Truly creative way to make the most of your creative path. Working two jobs and writing this brilliant story, Kudos!! Everything about Cooperville is genius and would never have thought that this is how you came uo with it!
Congrats I’m looking forward to reading this.
Andre,
Incredible script. You should be proud.
But, I need to know…straight out…it’s 3 days after I just saw your movie…what did you want me to learn?
I’ll be honest, I saw the term “racially charged disappearances” in the description/synopsis so I went “Meh” and put this one on the back burner. I came back to it and, only about half way in, I’m so glad I did. It’s like the creepiest Twilight Zone episode ever but somehow also hilarious. Amazing and thanks.
Glad to hear you’re enjoying Cooperville! We have some great genre hybrids this year, huh?
I just recently joined but the competition, the archives, yeah there’s some great stuff. I think the first thing I read was “Art work” and I loved it. I was hoping to see how it scored but I guess that’s not possible with archives. I voted on “Mob mentality” and “Decomposer” and I’m about half way through “Cooperville”. I read half of it yesterday and was hoping to finish it today but too many distractions and I wanna give it the attention it deserves. They’re all great.
Finally able to finish reading this today… re-read, and vote. Great stuff. I think all three should be made. It’s tough to choose, like choosing between apples & oranges & BANANAS! Great stuff, Andre. Please never stop.
Thanks for taking the time to read and contribute! It’s an incredibly close race this year, and we’re in the privileged position of being delighted no matter which of the three wins. Fingers crossed we can find a way to produce or help along all three scripts.
I’ve just finished reading Cooperville, and it’s definitely my favorite of the three finalists. I really feared that, like many modern films about racism - Green Book, almost all Tyler Perry films -, it would become too preachy about its subject and offer nothing more beyond the very obvious “racism=bad”. But I was pleasantly surprised with the many nuances and layers in its story and themes, its morally complex characters, and the brutal but thought-provoking narrative. Not unlike Sinners earlier this year. I hope this gets made and gains the momentum Sinners has had.
When is the winner going to be revealed and will we know who finished second and third
Hey Elias. Yes, we plan to reveal the top 3 finalists in order of votes received. So we’ll announce second and third place.
I liked Cooperville. It was very creative. The author wasn’t afraid to think outside the box. Also Regina’s diss to Virginia on page 80 was very funny.
I have such a clear vision of the miniature cardboard village, it’s like I was there myself.
Congrats @afordjr1 for making the final three. Great screenplay, I pray that Kinolime does make this or facilitates it. You have done a terrific job.
I’ve been so busy with stuff that I didn’t stop to say thank you for those kind words
