“A sharp-witted high school senior navigates Detroit’s underworld, using social media and street smarts to escape poverty. But when ambition and survival clash, she must outmaneuver the game—or be swallowed by it.”
Goodness - there’s a great amount of hard knock life on show here. Brownie’s done so much in her short 17 years (as per intro ending). Because of this young age there are many aspects to this plotline that Brownie willingly does (mostly sexual, many drug orientated, many more violent ending in murderous revenge killing) that I found unbelievable. I’m also unsure why Det Marty Bulger would let Brownie off “because she was pregnant.” She gets to keep her baby plus all the spoils.
IMHO the dance sections really come to life, so in parts it feels like the gangsta stuff was just thrown in. Would her boyfriend sports star really hang with those two losers (and ends up being killed for that pleasure)
I appreciate this SP is not aimed at me but think it could benefit from being simplified and maybe not so extreme! All best –
