A huge congratulations to the top 26 who have progressed to the next round, and a massive THANK YOU to every single person who submitted to this competition.
With well north of 2,000 entries (!!!) it was an exceptionally difficult decision on which submissions would progress. We’d like to thank everyone for having the courage to share and for rolling the dice. Truthfully, there were probably 80 screenplays which could well have made the cut – so don’t be discouraged. We hope you’ll stick around to vote and share your experiences.
You can READ AND VOTE right now, earning Lime$ as you do so. We’ve got a great mixture of genres this year and I’m excited to hear what resonates with audiences. Share below what has caught your attention and what you’ve loved so far!
I’m super impressed with the quality of the scripts. Great writing on display. I’m also struck by the international scope of the entries. It’s been fun getting quick peeks into so many different cultures.
I’m not yet half way through reading. Lingering Light is probably my favorite so far. I enjoyed Puppy’s Roar. No kidding, though, I’ve enjoyed every script I’ve read so far for one reason or another. Yard Sale was really good. Chicken is just pages of silliness, which I like. Body of Water, AuPair were both strong for their genres. I’m really looking forward to reading the rest.
Hey Rigby, great to see you back on here, hope you’re well.
Five will be difficult to whittle down to because we have so many great submissions. I can give you some of my personal favourites, but they’re not necessarily what’s most popular, highest rated, etc – and I should specify that this isn’t an official endorsement of any submissions.
AuPair – hard drama
Everything I Know (I Learned From My Mother) – hard drama
Showing – erotic thriller
Space Babes – disarming straight up comedy
Lingering Light – high concept drama with a sort of fantasy angle
and then if you’ll indulge me in a sixth…
Jinglepuss / Bad Fish – for an interesting comedy entry. Happy reading!
Hey Matt, thanks so much for submitting Space Babes and my commiserations that it didn’t reach the top 10. I’d have absolutely loved to see it up there. Fingers crossed for you that you find it a home, as it’s a story that deserves to be told! Hilarious work.
Hi, Matt! It’s such a shame Space Babes didn’t make the Top 10; it was hilarious, charming, and a love letter to filmmaking as a whole! It NEEDS to get made sooner or later.
Wow! This love for the screenplay is giving me life! You (and Meara) are far too kind. When I wrote this script, I had no idea if it would resonate with anyone but now I feel totally differently. Thank you both so much for the boost!
