Enter Your Short Script! šŸ“

I’m just managed to upload my 21 page script (including cover page) and it worked! So thank you for your tireless efforts! Next question: roughly how long do the screenplays stay in the Pending stage? One of mine has been Pending for a couple of days.

Hey Jeff, thanks for the update, glad that fix got rolled out successfully.

As for your question RE: pending stage (and this applies to @mislamsr24480’s question too), we have had a massive amount of submissions which all require manual checks for approval. This could take a while to progress as we need eyes on every upload to ensure adherence to guidelines and also to review. This is happening currently, so some screenplays will already be out of ā€˜pending’ and into ā€˜approved’ (or ā€˜declined’, depending on adherence). We’ll try to get through these as quick as possible without rushing any reviews and giving each submission the attention it deserves.

Sort of cringe but can I apply with a script that started as fan fiction but I’ve changed the names and stuff to make it legally distinct?

Just to elaborate on this – scripts that meet our criteria and guidelines will remain in ā€˜pending’ until the close of submissions and our selection of the top 26. The only reason a submission would leave change before then is if it was rejected for some reason.

Hey Sab. We can confirm that so long as it’s totally distinct or obviously qualifies as parody, it’s okay. In the same way that Fifty Shades or Mortal Instruments began their lives as fan fiction.

I have a question, is it possible to edit or change your short film after submitting it? I did it once but now that it’s been about a week since I submitted it, I can’t find a way to edit it.

Hello there,

I have confirmed with the support team that submitted films cannot be amended. Uploads are finalised submissions to prevent duplicate reviews being required of our readers. If you have uploaded less than the three submission limit, you may use a second or third slot to reupload your project and remove the original. What is the nature of the change you require? A new draft / change in planned location, etc?

I have a clarification question. I uploaded my script onto the website on the 18th for the Shorts Competition and received two e-mails to confirm that the script had been uploaded and that it was currently under review. In the first email, it mentioned that it might take up to a week for my screenplay to be approved and onboarded to the site. I saw that my script is currently listed under My Screenplays and as pending in the Shorts Competition. However, I noticed that it’s only under the ā€œAllā€ tab and not in any of the other tabs like Drafts or In Competition. Is my script still under approval review to be onboarded or am I good to go?

Thanks.

Hey there, sorry for my late reply – I was away from my desk yesterday. I believe my colleague Yoni has replied to you by DM, but just in case anyone else shares your question, here’s the support desk’s response;

Once a script is submitted, its status will remain ā€œPending Reviewā€ until the review panel team makes the final selections for the 26 winning scripts.

Here is a quick guide to what each tab shows:

ALL: This tab displays every script that has been submitted to the competition.

DRAFT: This tab is for storing scripts you have started but not yet officially submitted.

Competition: This tab shows only the scripts that have been selected to advance and are active in the current round.

Hi,

While trying to save my application, the page glitched, so I had to start over.

But the second time around, I was told my title needs to be original (I guess the system thinks I already submitted the same title previously).

To get around this, I put hyphens on either side of my title.

I hope that doesn’t affect my chances, haha.

Hi there, thanks for getting in touch and applying. Could you kindly DM me the title of your project and I will ensure that everything is ship shape on the back office side of things.

Hi! I’m new here. I wanted to ask… when done submitting my script, is it okay to ask for users to review my script for feedback? Also, I’ve seen that some included the cover page, but I didn’t. It’s not a problem right?

Hello there, welcome to the forum!

You’re welcome to submit your screenplay here for feedback. On the actual website, when submitting your screenplay, the title page is automatically removed by the system to maintain anonymity. If uploading to the forum, we recommend you remove the title page to replicate this process, but it won’t disqualify you or anything if you don’t.

I’m new to Kinolime and am wondering where I might view some of the short scripts in the latest contest. Also, how does the community vote on competing scripts? Thanks so much for your help.

Hi Zinghop, welcome to the forum. We’re still in the submission period right now, but we’ll have announce a top 26 shortly after entries close on September 18th. So toward the end of the month, there’ll be 26 shorts available to read, share, rate, and discuss here on the forum. From this point on, it’s up to the public to vote for the story they want to see funded.

Voting involves reading the script, then answering a few questions. You’re also rewarded with lime$ for votes, which can be exchanged for rewards on the website!

None of my entries have title pages and now submissions have maxed out. I didn’t know the first page of the script was deleted, it doesn’t make sense to have a title page if they’re unnecessary.

Hello lenrely, thanks for your comment. I believe that title pages are a legal requirement, but we hide these to ensure anonymity and a fair meritocratic process. If you could kindly DM me with the email address attached to your account, and the title of your screenplays, I can share with the support team to try and rectify this issue.
