Racing a deportation deadline after being shut out of Madison Square Garden, a Kashmiri-American trucker-boxer stages his final fight at a truck-stop ring, backed by a road family determined not to let him disappear.
Definitely deals with some important and timely themes. I’d like the Adi/Garcia history brought into the open a little earlier in the story to give us a better idea of the personal stakes they both are bringing to this grudge match.
I’d also keep MSG as a venue out of the story since it doesn’t happen. Keep it an underground trucking circuit thing. I also don’t like that they have an actual fight in a ring early, stop it and call it a draw, just to set up a bigger meeting later. Why not have Adi fighting someone else, have Garcia show up and call him out (maybe sucker punch him) and keep their only fight as the climax?
Is Garcia a professional fighter or also a truck driver? I think it’s a little unrealistic to think Adi hasn’t been trained in 6 years when he left Danny’s but can get ready to fight a pro boxer in 3-4 weeks.
Definitely some good stuff here though, congrats on the top 26!
